Melissa Gregston Nelson, Director of Admissions, has a unique understanding of the workings of Heartlight, having grown up with parents who founded the Heartlight program. Melissa has always been a part of Heartlight, and now plays a crucial role for incoming families and assisting them in the admission and interview process. Having graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a degree in Child and Family Studies, Melissa is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for working with families. Prior to joining the Heartlight Staff in July of 2000, Melissa worked as a child life specialist at Early Childhood Intervention in Longview, Texas. Melissa and her husband, Blake, Heartlight's Residential Director, have two daughters, Maile and Macie.

Courtney Goswick, Admissions/Marketing Assistant. Growing up in Longview, Courtney has wanted to be associated with Heartlight ever since the days she was able to go swimming at the pool when Melissa Nelson used to baby-sit her. She has known for a long time that God has blessed her with the desire to work with children who are struggling. Courtney and her husband, Shane, both volunteer with the youth group in their home church. On her time away from work she enjoys going to the lake, scrap booking, and spending time with Shane. Even though Courtney works primarily in the office and not directly with the kids, her encouragement and illuminating smile are a blessing to the staff as well as the residents she encounters on a daily basis.
